J2 Visa
Family members of a J1 visa holder may apply for a J2 visa. The spouse and unmarried children (under the age of 21) may accompany the J1 visa holder to the United States. The J2 visa holders can stay in the USA as long as the J1 visa holder remains in official status.
In order to receive the DS 2019 to apply for a J2 visa, please send in the following documents to Intrax:
- A completed J2 application form
- A clear copy of a marriage certificate OR, if a dependent, a copy of a birth certificate
- If the marriage or birth certificate is not in English, an English translation with the signature of the translator
- Intrax needs from the J1 visa holder a letter stating that the J1 visa holder possesses adequate financial resources to support the J2 applicant
- If the J1 visa holder is already in the USA: copies of three J1 pay stubs from the preceding months must accompany the application
- If the J1 visa holder is not in the USA: a bank statement
- A non-PO Box address where FedEx can deliver the DS 2019 form and a local phone number
* Please submit the J1 and J2 applications together.
J2 Visa Fee
The administrative fee for the DS 2019 for J2 visa applications is 400€ for the first month (including medical insurance) and 40€ for each following month.
